What Is The GUT?

A healthy digestive tract is essential for the optimal health of every cell in the body. In the gastrointestinal tract, nutrients are broken down by digestive enzymes and beneficial microbes and then absorbed through the membrane of the small intestine into the bloodstream.
If this process interferes with a change in the beneficial microbes or if a digestive enzymes deficiency occurs the cell will not receive the number of nutrients they need to function, this will impact your health.
There is a lot of research into the study of the gut microbes or microbiome.
Leaky gut syndrome (dysbiosis) an imbalance in the good and bad bacterium in the microbiome this has been associated with pathogens of many inflammatory diseases and infections, like inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and coeliac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. ref

Causes of Dysbiosis

  • Food Intolerances
  • Pathogens (bacterium, parasites and yeasts)
  • Antibiotics
  • Low beneficial bacteria levels
  • Stress both psychological and physical stress

The most common symptoms are indigestion, reflux, wind, bloating, constipation or diarrhoea. If left untreated these symptoms may lead to more severe problems and affect your overall health.
